🗣️ Have Your Say – Proposed Glendowie Park Pump Track

Hi community,

Auckland Council is currently seeking feedback on a proposal to build a pump track at Glendowie Park.

Pump tracks are popular with cyclists, scooters, and skateboarders — providing a fun, low-impact way for all ages to stay active and enjoy the outdoors.

As your St Heliers and Glendowie Residents Association, we encourage everyone in our community to take a few minutes to have your say. It’s important that the final decision reflects the views of our residents — including considerations around location, safety, parking, noise, environmental impact, and accessibility.

Some additional information for residents:

💡 What Is a Pump Track?

A pump track is a looped circuit of rollers, berms, and smooth surfaces that riders navigate using momentum (rather than pedalling). They cater to a wide range of ages and skill levels, from small children to experienced riders.

Typical pump track sizes in New Zealand range from:

  • Neighbourhood scale: ~200 m² (small loops)
  • Suburban scale: ~400 m²
  • Destination tracks: 600–900 m²+ (multi-lane, higher capacity)

🧭 Key Considerations for Glendowie

When preparing your feedback, you might wish to consider:

  • Location: Does Glendowie Park suit the scale and activity type, or could another local park be more appropriate?
  • Environmental factors: The park’s history.
  • Noise and parking: How will users and visitors impact nearby residents and sports users?
  • Accessibility: Can young families and school children access the site safely by walking or cycling?

We encourage you to share your thoughts before the consultation closes.
Every submission counts toward ensuring that community spaces are developed in a way that balances recreation, safety, and environmental care.

🌿 Together, we can help shape the future of Glendowie’s parks and recreation spaces.
